Christian Vivo has 27 years of fencing experience. He has coached fencing at USC, Whittier College, Glendale YMCA and Marymount High School. He is a lifetime member of the United States Fencing Association. Ten years ago he began a study of period Medieval and Renaissance sword treatises such as the works of George Silver, Royal Armouries Manuscript I.33 and the writings of Fiore dei Liberi. His work has led him to become a guest lecturer at national historical martial arts events. His current project is the translation and interpretation of Charles Besnard’s treatise, Le maistre d'arme libéral.
Christian is a true Renaissance man. In addition to his period studies, he has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Brown in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science degree from USC in Biomedical Engineering. He has 13 years of experience teaching physics, engineering and robotics at Marymount. He is a member of the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and the American Sailing Association.
